This is the patch panel I made. It's nearly complete, it just needs the large hole for the master cylinder cut into it. All of the other holes are to be welded in, thus increasing the surface area of the weld. The patch panel will be much stronger than the factory firewall. Whenever welding something still attached to a car, always take every precaution against fire. I like to wrap everything in the immediate area with aluminum foil to keep sparks from jumping on something flammable. This shot is of the engine compartment around the hole. I removed the seat and aluminum foiled the entire driver's side of the car. Hopefully it won't ignite and burn the shop down!
