Well, last week the firewall was patched. Now the arduous task of putting it all back together begins. This task started out with me realizing that I lost the two bolts that hold the fuse box to the firewall, and ended abruptly. So, I took my time and installed the tachometer on the dash.

The firewall was:

1.) Beaten flat with a body dolly and hammer, then tack welded together

2.) Given 3 coats of weld through primer, as well as the patch getting 3 coats of the same

3.) Welded, ground, welded some more, ground, etc... (This took Brian about 4 hours. I think he did a nice job! He only set the car on fire once!)

4.) Given 4 coats of sandable  primer

5.) Given 4 coats of 3M rubberized undercoating.

Incase you lost count, that's 11 coats of paint/primer.

Another shot showing the general area The patch is the most apparent in this picture.
What patch? I still don't see a patch. Also, there is fluid in the master cylinder! i.e. we have a working clutch in the Eagle for the first time in 13 months! Since I was painting and whatnot, I decided to clean the rust off of the battery tray and spray it. It got 4 coats of sandable primer and 4 coats of 3M underbody coating.
More battery tray Well, since I lost the screws for the fuse box (I took it out in November 2001) I decided to mount the tach! I realize that it's completely unimpressive in this picture because I have a rag taped over it. but trust me, it's very sweet. The wire loom I installed under the dash for the tach wiring.
I went to wire the tach up to the headlight switch (for the illumination) and saw this. It's a badly melted and corroded plug that has obviously been shorting out for quite sometime. Looks like I get to add another thing to my list for the junk yard run.

P.S. Notice the hot pink butt connector on the blue wire. I don't think  I've been the first person to take ANYTHING off of this car.

Another shot of the completely fucked up connector. And another...
